IPTV Player for Android TV
RolloTV is a free IPTV player for Android TV. Add your M3U or Xtream Codes playlist and run everything from the remote: a program guide, favorites, search, and resume.
Built for a remote, not a touchscreen
Most playlist players started on phones and were stretched onto a TV later. You can tell in about ten seconds: text sized for a hand, controls that expect a touchscreen, and a focus outline that disappears the moment you press a direction key.
RolloTV was written for Compose for TV first. The phone layout came second. Four things follow from that.
Every control works with four arrows and OK
There are no hidden gestures and no long-press you have to guess at. Focus always shows as a white outline or a filled pill, so you can see where you are from across the room.
Back returns you where you were
Leave a channel, open a movie, press Back. You land on the same row, at the same scroll position, with the same tile highlighted. Many players drop you at the top of an 800-item list instead.
Hold OK to save a favorite
Hold the select button on any channel, movie, or series. It goes into that section's Favorites category, which is pinned to the front of the list. No submenu, no edit mode. Each profile keeps its own favorites.
Search works without a keyboard
The on-screen keyboard is a grid laid out for a D-pad, not a copy of QWERTY. Results filter as you type across live channels, movies, and series at once.
What you get on Android TV
- A time-aligned program guide with a live preview pane, so you can see what is on later without stopping what is playing now.
- Continue watching, which saves your position in movies and episodes plus the audio and subtitle track you picked, then restores all three.
- Category control: pin the groups you watch, hide the ones you never open, and sort lists by name, rating, or date added.
- Six playlist profiles, each with its own favorites, history, and optional 4-digit PIN.
- Built-in decoders for AC3, E-AC3, DTS, and TrueHD audio, plus 10-bit HEVC video. Missing decoders are the usual cause of "picture but no sound" in other players.
- Subtitle styling with a live preview, and audio and subtitle track selection during playback.
Which Android TV devices work
RolloTV needs Android 6.0 or later. That covers almost every Android TV device sold in the last ten years:
- Nvidia Shield TV and Shield TV Pro
- Xiaomi Mi Box and Mi TV Stick
- TVs from Sony, TCL, Philips, Hisense, and Sharp running Android TV
- Generic Android TV boxes and dongles
- Google TV devices, which run the same system underneath
The release build ships both 64-bit and 32-bit ARM libraries. Several players have dropped 32-bit support, which strands older boxes and budget sticks. RolloTV still installs and runs on them.
How to install on Android TV
Android TV has no browser for sideloading, so use the free Downloader app. It takes two or three minutes.
Install Downloader from Google Play
On the TV, open Google Play, search for Downloader by AFTVnews, and install it.
Let Downloader install apps
Go to Settings, Apps, Security & restrictions, Unknown sources and switch Downloader on. Android blocks one app from installing another until you do this.
Enter the code
Open Downloader, click the URL box, and type:
6404827
Press Go and wait for the download.
Install and clean up
Choose Install, then Done, then let Downloader delete the installer file to free the space back.
Open it and add your playlist
RolloTV appears in your apps row. On first run it asks for a playlist. Enter an M3U URL or your Xtream Codes details.
Install guides for every device, including phones and tablets.
Adding your playlist
RolloTV stays empty until you give it a playlist. It accepts two kinds and nothing else:
- An M3U playlist URL, plus an XMLTV guide URL if you have one. It has to be a link. RolloTV cannot open an M3U file saved on the device.
- An Xtream Codes login: server address, username, and password. This one also gives you catch-up, which a plain M3U file cannot do.
Both have to come from a provider you have the legal right to use. We supply no playlists, sell none, and cannot tell you where to get one.
Free and Premium
The player costs nothing. Live TV, the full guide, browsing your movie and series lists, search, favorites, continue watching, profiles, the PIN, and subtitle styling are all free.
A code unlocks four more features: movie and series playback from your playlist, catch-up on Xtream servers that offer it, Multiview with four live channels on one screen, and auto-subtitles using your own OpenSubtitles account. A code unlocks features. It never adds channels. Each new install can try them free for 7 days.
Android TV questions
No. The app installs empty. You add an M3U URL or an Xtream login from a provider you pay separately. We do not sell playlists and cannot tell you where to get one.
Google Play is planned. For now, install with Downloader code 6404827, or
download the APK from rollotv.com/apk. Both give you the same app.
Probably. It needs Android 6.0 or later, and the build ships 32-bit ARM libraries, so budget sticks and older boxes still work.
Yes, up to six profiles on a TV. Each keeps its own favorites, history, and optional 4-digit PIN, and you can mix M3U and Xtream profiles.
That is usually an audio format your device cannot decode. RolloTV ships decoders for AC3, E-AC3, DTS, and TrueHD to cover it. If one stream is still silent, open Audio & Subtitles during playback and try another audio track.
The app holds no video, so building it, sharing it, and installing it are lawful. What you play is your responsibility. See the disclaimer and terms of service.
