IPTV Player for Firestick
RolloTV is a free IPTV player for Fire TV Stick. Install it with Downloader code 6404827, add your M3U or Xtream playlist, and run it from the Fire TV remote.
What a Fire TV Stick needs from a player
A Fire TV Stick is a small computer with limited memory and, on the cheaper models, very little free storage. Plenty of players run fine on a phone, then stutter, swell, or fail to install on a stick. Four things matter here.
It has to be small
The RolloTV installer is about 11 MB. On a Fire TV Stick Lite with a couple of gigabytes free, that is the difference between installing cleanly and running out of storage halfway through.
It has to run on 32-bit hardware
Several older Fire TV sticks are 32-bit devices, and a number of players have dropped support for them. RolloTV ships both 32-bit and 64-bit ARM libraries, so an older stick still works.
It has to decode the audio itself
"Video plays but there is no sound" is the most common complaint on Fire TV. The cause is nearly always an audio format the device will not decode. RolloTV ships software decoders for AC3, E-AC3, DTS, and TrueHD, plus 10-bit HEVC video, instead of relying on what the stick happens to support.
It has to work with the Alexa Voice Remote D-pad
No touchscreen, no mouse toggle, no air remote. Every RolloTV control is reachable with four arrows and the select button. Focus is always visible, and holding select on any tile saves it to Favorites.
Which Fire TV devices work
Anything on Fire OS based on Android 6.0 or later, which is every Fire TV device still getting updates:
| Device | Notes |
|---|---|
| Fire TV Stick Lite | Works. Watch your free storage, and delete the installer after setup. |
| Fire TV Stick (3rd gen and later) | The common case. No special steps. |
| Fire TV Stick 4K and 4K Max | The most comfortable option. 4K Max has the most headroom for the guide. |
| Fire TV Cube | Works, and has the most processing power of the range. |
| Fire TV Omni and built-in Fire TV sets | Same install route through Downloader. |
| Older 32-bit sticks | Supported. The build still ships 32-bit ARM libraries. |
How to install on a Fire TV Stick
Fire OS blocks installs from outside the Amazon Appstore until you allow them, and on current versions the switch is hidden behind an extra step. Work through these in order.
Turn on Developer Options
Go to Settings, My Fire TV, About, highlight your device name, and press the select button seven times. A short message confirms it. If Developer options is already under My Fire TV, skip this step. Older Fire OS versions never hid it.
Let Downloader install apps
Go to Settings, My Fire TV, Developer options, Install unknown apps and switch Downloader to ON. On older Fire OS versions this is one switch called Apps from Unknown Sources.
Install Downloader
From the Fire TV home screen, search for Downloader, the orange icon by AFTVnews, and install it. It is free.
Enter the code
Open Downloader, check you are on the Home tab, click the URL box, and type:
6404827
Press Go.
Install, then delete the installer
Choose Install, then Done. Downloader offers to delete the downloaded file. Say yes twice. On a Stick Lite that space is worth getting back.
Open it and add your playlist
Find it under Your Apps & Channels. Enter an M3U playlist URL, or your Xtream Codes server, username, and password.
Install guides for every device.
Four Fire TV tips
Move RolloTV to the front row
New apps land at the end of Your Apps & Channels. Highlight RolloTV, press the menu button (the three lines), and choose Move to Front. It then sits on the home screen.
Stop the screensaver cutting in
RolloTV keeps the screen awake while video plays. If a stick still dims during long sessions, raise the timeout under Settings, Display & Sounds, Screensaver.
Free up storage first
Check Settings, My Fire TV, About, Storage. Under about 500 MB free, uninstall something before you start. Fire OS reports confusing errors when it runs out of room mid-install.
Updating later
Repeat the Downloader step with the same code. The new version installs over the old one, and your playlists, favorites, and watch history stay as they were.
Free and Premium
Live TV, the full program guide, browsing your movie and series lists, search, favorites, continue watching, profiles, the profile PIN, and subtitle styling all work without paying.
A code unlocks movie and series playback from your playlist, catch-up on Xtream servers that offer it, Multiview with four live channels on one screen, and auto-subtitles through your own OpenSubtitles account. A code unlocks software on one device. It never supplies anything to watch. Each new install can try these features free for 7 days.
Firestick questions
No. The app installs empty. You add your own M3U URL or Xtream login from a provider you pay separately. We sell no playlists.
No. Turning on Developer Options and installing an app through Downloader are normal Fire OS features. Nothing here modifies the system or roots the device.
The installer is about 11 MB and the app only runs when you open it. On a Stick Lite, free storage matters more than speed, so delete the installer file after setup.
Recent Fire OS versions hide it. Go to Settings, My Fire TV, About, highlight your device name, and press select seven times. The menu then appears under My Fire TV.
Check you typed 6404827 with no spaces, into the URL box on the
Home tab rather than the browser tab. If it still fails, type
rollotv.com/apk instead.
Usually a half-finished download or an old copy still on the stick. Delete the installer, free up a few hundred megabytes, and run the steps again. Uninstall any earlier copy first.
No. Downloader code 6404827 and the direct installer are the supported routes,
and both give you the same app.
