IPTV Player for Google TV
RolloTV is a free IPTV player for Google TV. Install it with Downloader code 6404827, then add your own M3U or Xtream playlist. Google TV hides sideloaded apps, so this page shows where to find it.
Google TV and Android TV are the same system
This confuses a lot of people, so here it is plainly. Google TV is an interface, not a separate operating system. Underneath it is still Android TV OS. The home screen is rebuilt around recommendations and a single watchlist, but the platform, the app format, and the settings are the same.
So there is one RolloTV app for both. There is no Google TV edition and no Android TV edition. The same installer runs on a Google TV Streamer, a Chromecast with Google TV, and a five-year-old Sony TV. Everything on the Android TV page applies here too.
The home screen is the one real difference, and that is where the friction is.
Which Google TV devices work
- Google TV Streamer (4K)
- Chromecast with Google TV, both 4K and HD
- TCL, Hisense, Philips, and Sony TVs that ship with Google TV
- Walmart onn Google TV boxes and sticks
- Any other Google TV device on Android 6.0 or later
How to install on Google TV
Install Downloader from Google Play
Open the Play Store on the TV, search for Downloader by AFTVnews, and install it.
Let Downloader install apps
Go to Settings, Apps, Security & restrictions, Unknown sources and switch Downloader on. On some devices the path is Settings, System, Apps. The setting is the same.
Enter the code
Open Downloader, click the URL box, and type:
6404827
Press Go.
Install and delete the file
Choose Install, then Done, then let Downloader remove the installer.
Now find it
RolloTV will not be on your home screen. That is normal Google TV behavior, not a failed install. The next section shows where to look.
Installed but not on the home screen
This is the most common Google TV question, and it is not specific to RolloTV. The Google TV home screen does not show apps you installed outside the Play Store. Its rows are built from recommendations and from apps Google knows about, so a sideloaded app looks like it vanished.
It is installed. Here is where to look, easiest first.
1. The Apps tab
From the home screen, open the Apps tab in the top navigation, scroll to the bottom, and open See all apps, then Show all apps. RolloTV is in that list.
2. Settings
Go to Settings, Apps, See all apps. Everything installed shows here, sideloaded or not.
3. Add it to your favorites row
Once you find RolloTV in See all apps, highlight it, press and hold the select button, and choose Add to favorites. The exact wording varies by device. It then appears on the home screen and can be reordered like any other app.
4. Ask Google to open it
Press the assistant button and say "open RolloTV". This launches the app but does not add it to the home screen, so do step 3 as well if you want it there for good.
What the voice remote can and cannot do
One limit worth knowing before you buy anything: voice search on Google TV searches Google's own catalog, not your playlist. Asking the remote for a specific show will not look inside the playlist you added to RolloTV. No third-party player can hook into that system search.
RolloTV has its own search inside the app, with an on-screen keyboard laid out for a D-pad. It filters your live, movie, and series lists as you type. Everything else in the app runs on the four arrows and the select button, so the standard Google TV remote is all you need.
Adding your playlist
RolloTV arrives with nothing to watch and takes exactly two kinds of playlist:
- An M3U playlist URL, with an optional XMLTV guide URL. A link, not a file on the device.
- An Xtream Codes login: server, username, and password. This one also gives you catch-up where your provider offers it.
Either way it has to come from a provider you have the legal right to use. We supply no playlists and cannot tell you where to find one.
Google TV questions
No. The app installs empty. You add an M3U URL or an Xtream login from a provider you pay separately. We sell no playlists.
No. Google TV runs Android TV OS underneath, so one app covers both. The same installer works on a Google TV Streamer, a Chromecast with Google TV, and an Android TV set.
That is normal. Google TV keeps sideloaded apps off the home screen. Open Apps, See all apps, Show all apps, then hold select on RolloTV and choose Add to favorites to pin it.
No. Google TV voice search looks in Google's catalog, not your playlist, and no third-party player can change that. Use the search inside RolloTV instead.
Yes, on both the 4K and HD models. Install it with Downloader the same way.
You need one to install Downloader from the Play Store. RolloTV itself does not ask for a Google account and does not use Google Play Services.
